Multimedia System

Multimedia System Specialization Track

A specialization track focusing on the processing, storage, transmission, and quality evaluation of multimedia content such as audio, images, video, and interactive digital media.

What is a Multimedia System?

Multimedia System is a field of Informatics that studies how various forms of digital media, such as audio, images, video, animation, and text, can be processed, compressed, transmitted, stored, and presented through computer systems and networks.

Through this specialization track, students will understand the characteristics of multimedia data, digital media processing techniques, data compression, multimedia networks, and quality of service in multimedia systems operating within computer network environments.

Main Areas of Study

Digital Audio Processing

Learning how to process, analyze, and represent sound data in digital form.

Digital Image Processing

Studying digital image processing techniques, such as image enhancement, segmentation, feature extraction, and visual analysis.

Digital Video Processing

Learning video data processing, including frames, motion, compression, and moving visual content analysis.

Multimedia Networks

Understanding network architecture and communication protocols that support multimedia content transmission.

Multimedia Systems are widely applied in modern applications that use audio, images, video, and interactive media as essential parts of digital services.

Required Track Courses

In the Multimedia System specialization track, students take six required track courses as part of their field-specific study.

2 Multimedia Networks Discusses network concepts, protocols, and mechanisms for transmitting multimedia content through computer networks.
3 Digital Audio Processing Studies digital sound processing, including audio signal representation, sound analysis, and audio data manipulation.
4 Digital Image Processing Discusses digital image processing techniques for image enhancement, analysis, segmentation, and visual information extraction.
5 Digital Video Processing Studies digital video processing, including frame analysis, motion detection, compression, and moving visual content processing.
6 Multimedia System Studies the concepts, architecture, components, and integration of various types of digital media within a multimedia system.
