BEBRAS UNUD

Nowadays, computers are increasingly permeating all fields, Computational Thinking (CT) has become a mandatory ability to be mastered by 21st-century humans. Google also provides a special page about CT1. Realizing that these abilities must be cultivated from an early age, a community whose members are mostly IOI2 (International Olympiad in Informatics) coaches has initiated the Bebras Computational Thinking Challenge. Overall, the Bebras Challenge has been attended by more than 2.5 million students from +/- 55 countries in the world. In 2016, Indonesia was invited to become an observer at the annual international Bebras workshop and was officially accepted as a member of the international Bebras community in 2017. The coaches of TOKI (Indonesian Computer Olympiad Team) were appointed to be the NBO (National Board Organization) of Bebras Indonesia.

The introduction of CT in the world finally spurred NBO Bebras Indonesia to enter more and more schools and opened the eyes of education circles (government, schools, teachers, and students) that problem-solving skills, critical and creative thinking, must be taught and in fact, can be taught and liked by children. -child. The government (in this case the Research and Development Agency of the Ministry of Education and Culture) has asked TOKI coaches to provide input in the design of the National Informatics curriculum, which was approved by the Government in December 2018 to bring back ICT (Information and Communication Technology) materials that were removed from the 2013 curriculum.

Since 2014, several countries have removed ICT subjects from schools, and replaced them with more scientific Informatics lessons. Google, code.org, ACM also supported the birth of the K12 CS Curriculum Framework, which is currently being implemented as a standard curriculum for primary and secondary schools in developed countries. The K12 curriculum standard pioneered by ACM and CSTA has also been adjusted to the birth of the curriculum framework. CT became one of the aspects that became the target of competence in the curriculum. Indonesia has adapted the K12 CS Curriculum to be implemented as a national curriculum for primary and secondary education, which was ratified on December 20, 2018 as Ministerial Regulation 36 and Ministerial Regulation 37 of 2018. Teachers who initially only taught ICT with a focus on using tools, need to be transformed into teachers who are able to teach scientific aspects of informatics, including CT. So far, the relationship between universities in the field of computing and schools is still minimal, even though if high school graduates have mastered CT and basic informatics, the quality of learning in universities can be improved, because the basic materials and CT abilities have been mastered by prospective students. In developed countries, most of the first-year courses, even the second year, have been taught at the high school level, so that today's topics such as AI (Artificial Intelligence), Cloud Computing, Big Data, and the Internet of Things (IoT) can be taught more deeply in college level.

Informatics Udayana University as one of the study programs that has expertise in the field of CT certainly feels called to take an active role in advancing CT at the K-12 level. The effort that has been made by the Informatics Engineering Study Program is to join the NBO bebras Indonesia to become the 16th Bureau (Bureau Bebras Udayana University) which plays an active role in advancing CT in Indonesia in general and in Bali in particular. Udayana University Rice Bureau (BBUD) was established in 2016 (https://bebras.or.id/v3/bebras-biro/), and plays an active role in conducting training, organizing bebras challenges in Bali. The activities that have been carried out by BBUD can be seen in table below.
