SIC IMPACT: Building Logical Minds to Create a Digital Future
The SIC IMPACT: Building Logical Minds to Create a Digital Future program was successfully held on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at SMAN 1 Petang. The program represents a community outreach initiative aimed at introducing Informatics and fundamental computer science concepts to high school students while encouraging them to explore the opportunities offered by the rapidly evolving digital world.
In today’s rapidly changing digital landscape, logical thinking, analytical skills, and problem-solving abilities have become essential foundations for the next generation of technology innovators. Recognizing the importance of these skills, the Student Innovation Centre (SIC) and the Public Relations Division of the Informatics Study Program, Universitas Udayana, organized SIC IMPACT as a community outreach activity rooted in the principles of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education.
The program was designed to introduce students to fundamental computer science concepts through an interactive, practical, and engaging learning experience. Rather than focusing solely on theoretical knowledge, participants were encouraged to gain hands-on experience and directly apply the concepts they learned through computer-based activities.
During the workshop, participants explored Logic Programming using Python, covering several fundamental programming concepts, including variables, data types, input/output syntax, functions, conditional statements, and loops.
The learning sessions were conducted through guided practical activities in the computer laboratory. Students were given opportunities to experiment with basic programming concepts and develop an understanding of how logical and computational thinking can be applied to solve problems systematically.
In addition to the practical sessions, participants took part in collaborative problem-solving case studies. Through these activities, students worked together to analyze problems, develop logical solutions, and apply the programming concepts they had learned. The collaborative approach also encouraged communication, teamwork, and creative thinking.
The event also featured an inspiring sharing session on the real-world applications of computer science in the technology industry. The session provided students with insights into how Informatics and computer science are applied in various fields, as well as an overview of the opportunities and competencies needed in the rapidly developing technology industry.
Through SIC IMPACT, students of SMAN 1 Petang are expected to gain greater awareness of Informatics and become more motivated to explore technology and computer science. The program also aims to strengthen their logical thinking and problem-solving skills while inspiring them to consider future educational and career pathways in the digital era.
SIC IMPACT represents a meaningful step toward nurturing a generation of logical, creative, adaptable, and future-ready young people who are prepared to contribute to the development of a digital future.
