Digital Cultural Heritage Research Group
Digital Cultural Heritage Research Group
Warisan Budaya Digital
The Digital Cultural Heritage Research Group is a research group under the Informatics Study Program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Udayana University. The group focuses on the use of information and communication technology to document, integrate, store, disseminate, and preserve cultural heritage information in digital form.
About Digital Cultural Heritage
Digital cultural heritage refers to cultural heritage that is created, disseminated, managed, and preserved with the support of digital technology. In this context, technology plays an important role in shaping the understanding, interpretation, documentation, and preservation of cultural heritage.
This research group examines both tangible and intangible cultural heritage, as well as the role of information technology in integrating, storing, disseminating, and preserving cultural information digitally. This enables cultural information to be continuously updated and easily accessed by the public.
The main focus of this research group is the transformation of tacit knowledge into explicit knowledge through the development of systems, applications, digital media, and knowledge platforms that support the creation of E-Cultural Heritage.
Scope and Development Direction
Cultural Preservation
Documentation and preservation of tangible and intangible cultural heritage so that it can be passed on to future generations.
Intelligent Systems
Utilization of intelligent system algorithms to support the analysis, classification, retrieval, and management of cultural data.
Multimedia and AR
Development of digital media, visualization, augmented reality, and multimedia applications to enrich user experience.
Application Integration
Development of integrated applications based on web, mobile, geospatial systems, IoT, and big data for the cultural heritage domain.
Objectives of the Research Group
To develop digital methods and technologies that support the preservation of Indonesian cultural heritage, particularly Balinese cultural heritage.
To produce innovative technologies such as digital applications, modeling, image processing, multimedia, and cultural data platforms.
To encourage educational and research activities that strengthen public understanding of the values and importance of cultural heritage.
To facilitate multidisciplinary collaboration involving Informatics, culture, art, tourism, education, and local communities.
To improve cultural heritage accessibility through interactive, inclusive, and user-friendly digital platforms.
To support local capacity building in the documentation, maintenance, and utilization of technology-based cultural heritage.
