The Expertise Group (KBK) serves as an integrative platform for lecturers with similar interests and competencies to develop scientific roadmaps, strengthen multidisciplinary research collaboration, and enhance the quality of research-based learning. KBK functions as a center of excellence aimed at producing innovation, reputable publications, and intellectual property to address the challenges of digital transformation across various sectors such as education, culture, and industry.


1. Expertise Group in Computing and Intelligent Systems

Head and Members:
Head: Dr. Drs. I Wayan Santiyasa, M.Si
Members: Dr. I Made Widiartha, S.Si., M.Kom.; I Gede Santi Astawa, ST., M.Cs.; I Wayan Supriana, S.Si., M.Cs.

Vision:
To become a leading and competitive expertise group in developing innovative and sustainable computing and intelligent systems for the advancement of science and global problem-solving.

Mission:
To develop collaborative research, implement research-based learning, encourage reputable publications and intellectual property, and strengthen multidisciplinary collaboration and community engagement.

Goals and Objectives:
To consolidate lecturers’ expertise, improve research quality, strengthen the integration of the tridharma, and produce globally competitive innovators in intelligent systems.

Roadmap (2026–2030):

  • 2026–2027 (Phase 1): Foundation through internal strengthening, scientific consolidation, and beginner research grants.

  • 2028–2029 (Phase 2): Development of AI research productivity, external partnerships, and international publications.

  • 2030+ (Phase 3): Innovation downstreaming, establishment of a center of excellence, and patent acquisition.

2. Expertise Group in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI)

Vision:
To become a leading expertise group in user-oriented, ergonomic, and innovative HCI applications that support human-centered digital transformation.

Mission:
To conduct research based on User-Centered Design (UCD), build industry collaboration, and apply HCI principles in community service to create inclusive digital solutions.

Goals and Objectives:
To produce innovative research based on user needs, ensure graduate competencies align with industry demands, and establish a sustainable research ecosystem.

Roadmap (2026–2030):

  • 2026: Foundation and scientific structuring, initiation of basic UI/UX research.

  • 2027: Strengthening applied UI/UX research in public information systems and usability testing implementation.

  • 2028: Innovation in interactive technologies (IoT and intelligent systems) and development of digital products for the public sector.

  • 2029: Enhancing reputation through industrial downstreaming and intellectual property development.

  • 2030: Establishing the group as a national center of excellence and contributing to global design standards.

3. Expertise Group in Natural Language Processing (NLP)

Vision:
To become a scientific group that significantly contributes to the development of knowledge-based multimodal NLP that is explainable, adaptive, and internationally relevant.

Mission:
To develop multimodal NLP, integrate language with audio/visual/spatial modalities, build structured knowledge representation, and promote international collaboration.

Goals and Objectives:
To produce multimodal language resources, develop cross-cultural reasoning frameworks, and strengthen the group’s role as a hub for sustainable science and technology development.

Roadmap (2026–2030):

  • 2026: Development of basic multimodal language resources (text–audio–lontar images) and linguistic annotation schemes.

  • 2027: Multimodal NLP modeling considering sociolinguistic context and model optimization.

  • 2028: Development of language-based Knowledge Graphs (KG) for rituals, narratives, and the wariga calendar.

  • 2029: Development of explainable KG-based Question Answering (QA) systems with normative reasoning.

  • 2030: Integration of multimodal cultural intelligence systems and zero-resource approaches for decision support.

To develop ML research on multimedia and physiological signal data, establish reproducible research standards, and build partnerships with educational and industrial institutions.

Goals and Objectives:
To systematically consolidate research capacity to produce datasets, learning analytics prototypes, and cultural content management systems aligned with SDGs targets.

Roadmap (2026–2030):

  • 2026: Consolidation of foundations, governance, and baseline research in culture, education, and business.

  • 2027: Release of dataset version 1 and development of early prototypes for cultural search systems and learning analytics.

  • 2028: Cross-modal integration (e.g., text with knowledge graphs) and limited field validation with partners.

  • 2029: Dataset scaling and preparation of implementation packages/training modules.

  • 2030: Establishment as a reference center for ML research and broad pilot implementation in culture/education.

Vision:
To become a center of excellence in data science research that ensures data privacy, integrity, and security in accordance with global industry standards.

Mission:
To provide adaptive data science education aligned with AI, develop privacy-preserving AI research, and promote the downstreaming of secure data processing solutions for industry.

Goals and Objectives:
To produce competent digital talent, generate intellectual property (patents/copyrights), and enhance lecturers’ academic qualifications toward professorship.

Roadmap (2026–2030):

  • 2026: Focus on descriptive data analysis and basic database security through internal grants.

  • 2027: Development of predictive analytics (Machine Learning) and collaboration with local industry partners.

  • 2028: Research on privacy preservation (e.g., data encryption and secure APIs).

  • 2029: Focus on Big Data, distributed systems, and cloud security through national competitive grants.

  • Conduct research in information architecture and data interoperability for digital heritage preservation.

  • Study information governance, system auditing, and data ethics.

  • Disseminate efficient and locally grounded information management innovations.

Goals and Objectives:
To produce innovative information management models, strengthen international scientific contributions, establish collaborative research roadmaps, and facilitate student research aligned with KBK focus areas.

  • 2026: Focus on information architecture and interoperability of cultural assets and public services.
