Informatics Study Program of FMIPA Udayana University Holds Guest Lecture on Cyber Security and Malware Analysis

Denpasar, July 7, 2026 – The Informatics Study Program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Udayana University, successfully organized a guest lecture entitled "Cyber Security and Malware Analysis" on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM (WITA) at Computer Laboratory 2, FMIPA Udayana University. The event was attended by faculty members and 50 undergraduate students of the Informatics Study Program.

The guest lecture was officially opened by the Coordinator of the Informatics Study Program, FMIPA Udayana University, who emphasized the growing importance of cybersecurity knowledge in today's digital era. In the opening remarks, the coordinator highlighted the need for future computer scientists to develop strong competencies in information security to address increasingly sophisticated cyber threats.

The first session featured Dr. Irene Anthi, Senior Lecturer in Cyber Security from the School of Computer Science & Informatics, Cardiff University, who delivered a presentation on "Cyber Security." During her presentation, Dr. Anthi introduced the fundamental concepts of cybersecurity, discussed the evolving landscape of cyber threats faced by individuals and organizations, and explained various strategies for strengthening information security. The session was enriched with several real-world case studies that illustrated current cybersecurity challenges and practical approaches to mitigating cyber risks.

The second session was delivered by Baskoro Adi Pratomo, S.Kom., M.Kom., Ph.D., from the Intelligent Networking Technology and Cyber Security Laboratory, Department of Informatics, Faculty of Intelligent Electrical and Informatics Technology, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS). His presentation, entitled "Malware Analysis," introduced participants to the fundamentals of malware, its various types, and analytical techniques used to identify malware characteristics and behavior. Through several practical case studies, participants gained valuable insights into how malware analysis is conducted to understand cyber threats and improve system security.

Following the presentations, the event continued with an interactive question-and-answer and discussion session. Faculty members and students actively engaged with both speakers, raising questions regarding cybersecurity implementation, malware investigation techniques, current research challenges, and future opportunities in information security. The lively discussion reflected the participants' enthusiasm and strong interest in the field.

Through this guest lecture, the Informatics Study Program of FMIPA Udayana University aims to broaden students' understanding of both Cyber Security and Malware Analysis, while providing practical insights into real-world cybersecurity challenges.
