Udayana University Informatics Hosts Guest Lecture on Bali-Indonesia Unsupervised Neural Machine Translation
The Informatics Study Program of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) at Udayana University held its first "Guest Lecture" on Friday, March 13, 2026, at Computer Lab 1, 3rd Floor of the FMIPA Dean Building, Jimbaran,. The event featured Pijar Candra Mahatagandha, S.Kom., a Data Engineer Consultant, as the keynote speaker to present an innovative topic titled “Unsupervised Neural Machine Translation Bali–Indonesia as a Case Study”. Officially opened with a speech by the Coordinator of the Informatics Study Program, I Made Widiartha, the session aimed to provide the academic community with technical insights into the application of artificial intelligence in the field of computational linguistics,.
A total of 56 students registered to study the mechanisms of unsupervised machine translation applied to the Balinese and Indonesian languages. The program, which ran from 08:30 to 11:05 WITA, included a detailed 60-minute presentation followed by an interactive 15-minute Q&A session to deepen the participants' understanding. In addition to receiving certificates and gaining new perspectives, participants were expected to understand the real-world implementation of Neural Machine Translation technology in addressing the future challenges of digitalizing regional languages.
