Informatics Study Program of FMIPA Udayana University Organizes Guest Lecture on The Journey of Artificial Intelligence
Denpasar, May 26, 2026 – The Informatics Study Program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Udayana University, organized a guest lecture entitled "The Journey of Artificial Intelligence" on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM (WITA) at the FMIPA Udayana University Lecture Hall. The event was attended by faculty members and 32 undergraduate students of the Informatics Study Program.
The guest lecture featured Prof. Dinesh Gopalani from the Malaviya National Institute of Technology (MNIT), Jaipur, India, who shared his expertise on the evolution and advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI). His participation provided valuable international perspectives on one of today's most influential and rapidly evolving technological fields.
In his presentation entitled "The Journey of Artificial Intelligence," Prof. Gopalani explored the historical development of Artificial Intelligence, beginning with its early concepts and continuing through the major milestones that have shaped AI into the transformative technology it is today. He explained the evolution of AI methodologies across different eras and discussed the technological innovations that have accelerated its development.
Beyond the theoretical foundations, Prof. Gopalani presented numerous examples of AI implementation throughout its evolution. Participants learned how Artificial Intelligence progressed from rule-based systems to machine learning, deep learning, and more recently, generative Artificial Intelligence. He also demonstrated how AI has been successfully applied across various sectors, including healthcare, education, manufacturing, transportation, and public services. These examples enabled participants to better understand both the opportunities and challenges associated with AI adoption in modern society.
The lecture concluded with an engaging question-and-answer session, during which students and faculty members actively discussed current AI research trends, practical implementation challenges, ethical considerations, and future directions of Artificial Intelligence. The interactive discussion provided participants with deeper insights into the transformative role of AI in addressing real-world problems.
